Understanding my level of knowledge and experience I think it would be wise for me to install at least a riving knife. However, it doesnt have a riving knife or full guard, just the blade. Its in a pretty good condition and it runs well and true. Ignoring the trip to the store, took me less than an hour. I have been given dealt tables aw from a friend. Found one at my local hardware store for <$10. I did find the steel towards the front of the knife to be hardened, so while a standard hacksaw worked to trim the bottom, I ended up buying a cobalt bit to drill the two 1/4" holes. By measuring, I was able to do this so the knife attaches and is just a little (~1/16") shorter than my 10" blade. See photos - I did it in two steps: (1) I cut a couple inches off the bottom so it won't interfere with the internal dust shroud in the saw when the blade is lowered, and (2) using the blade guard as a guide and doing some careful measuring, I drilled two 1/4" holes to attach the knife to the blade guard holder. Reviewed in the United States □□ on January 10, 2023īased on the other reviews, I bought this Riving Knife for my 744 Type 1 and was able to successfully modify it to fit though I did it a little differently than the other reviewers. Another working with a DeWalt 744 Type 1 story.
